About the IET India Scholarship Award
Established by the IET, one of the world’s largest professional societies for engineers, the IET India Scholarship Award is now in its 9th edition. The program is open to full-time undergraduate engineering students across all years (1st to 4th year) from AICTE/UGC-approved institutions in India. The primary objective is to identify and nurture the next generation of engineering leaders by evaluating their academic performance, extracurricular involvement, and innovative thinking.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the IET India Scholarship Award 2025, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Academic Standing: Must be enrolled in a full-time, regular undergraduate engineering program (B.Tech/B.E.) approved by AICTE/UGC.
- Year of Study: Open to students in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of their undergraduate program.
- Academic Performance: Must have cleared all credit courses in a single attempt.
- Minimum Marks: Must have scored a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (or 6.0 CGPA on a 10-point scale) in the semesters cleared so far.
- Membership Status: Open to both IET members and non-members. However, IET student members receive a 15% additional weightage in their application.
- Branch of Engineering: Applicable to all branches of engineering recognized by AICTE/UGC.
- Age Limit: There is no age limit for applicants.

Selection Process
The selection process for the IET India Scholarship Award 2025 is a comprehensive four-stage evaluation designed to assess various competencies of the applicants:
1. Online Application & Evaluation
Applicants are required to submit an online application detailing their academic achievements, extracurricular activities, and professional engagements. The evaluation criteria and their respective weightages are:
- Academic Performance: 52%
- Extra & Co-Curricular Activities: 20%
- Professional Activities: 13%
- Outreach Efforts: 10%
- IET Student Membership: 15% additional weightage
The top 10% of applicants from each region (North, East & Northeast, South 1, South 2, and West) will advance to the next stage.
2. Online Test
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to take an online multiple-choice test consisting of 50 questions covering core engineering subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, and Computer Science. The top 30 scorers from each region will proceed to the regional round.
3. Regional Round Presentations

In this stage, candidates will present a technological solution to a pressing societal challenge relevant to their region. The regional rounds will be held in the following cities:
- North Region: Delhi
- East & Northeast Region: Kolkata
- West Region: Mumbai
- South 1 Region: Bangalore
- South 2 Region: Chennai
Each region will select one winner and one runner-up. Only the regional winners will advance to the national finals.
4. National Finals
The national finals will be held in Bengaluru in September 2025. Regional winners will present their refined solutions and participate in evaluations that may include group discussions. Judging criteria will focus on innovation, presentation skills, and overall growth throughout the competition.

- Winner: ₹60,000, Trophy, Certificate, and 1-year IET Membership

- 1st Runner-up: ₹1,70,000, Trophy, Certificate, and 1-year IET Membership

Note: If a student wins at both regional and national levels, they will receive certificates for both, but the prize money will be awarded only for the national level.
